Bunevacz 40 taon makukulong sa Tate
Naaresto na pala ang former decathlete at mister ng dating aktres na si Jessica Rodriguez na si David Bunevacz sa Amerika at nag-plead guilty ito sa dalawang kaso ng scheme to defraud cannabis-industry investors.
Noong April pa pala naaresto ng awtoridad si Bunevacz dahil sa pag-set up nito ng fake cannabis vaping businesses at panlilinlang sa ilang investors na umabot sa $37M.
Ayon sa report, ginamit diumano ni Bunevacz ang pera sa pagsuporta nito sa kanyang lavish lifestyle tulad nang pagbili ng mga mamahaling kotse, diamond jewelries, Rolex watch, Hermes bags at pagsugal sa casino na umabot sa $8 million. Ginamit din daw nito ang pera sa binigay nitong Sweet Sixteen birthday party sa anak na umabot sa higit na $200,000.
Humarap na sa federal judge si Bunevacz noong nakaaang Lunes sa California’s Central District at nag-plead guilty to one count each of securities fraud and wire fraud.
Ayon sa affidavit noong maaresto siya: “Bunevacz perpetrated the scam over the course of more than a decade and went to elaborate lengths to deceive his victims: lying about his business connections, forging bank statements and legal settlements, laundering money through shell companies, and concealing prior legal troubles.”
Ang pag-plead guilty ni Bunevacz sa dalawang krimen ay may prison sentence na tig-20 years. Kaya nahaharap siyang makulong for 40 years. Naka-schedule ang kanyang sentencing sa November 21.
Hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na gumawa ng ganitong klaseng krimen si Bunevacz. Ayon sa imbestigasyon, noong 2007 tinakasan nito ang kanyang kaso sa Pilipinas dahil sa pagnakaw ng pera sa isang cosmetic surgery clinic na kanyang pinapatakbo. Inireklamo siya ng ilang business partners dahil sa paggastos nito ng pera ng kumpanya. Naging kontrobersya pa noon niregalo niyang kotse na BMW X5 sa misis na si Jessica bilang anniversary gift.
Noong 2010 naman sa Winter Olympics in Vancouver, nasangkot sa ticket sales scheme si Bunevacz: “The owner of a ticket-selling operation claimed that he paid Bunevacz $3 million for 17,000 tickets to the games that never arrived to him and his customers. The ticket seller sued Bunevacz, and a 2014 settlement agreement said Bunevacz would pay the seller $325,000.”
Noong 2016 naman, kinasuhan si Bunevacz ng nine-count felony complaint with three counts each of grand theft, unlawful securities sales and securities fraud: “Bunevacz entered a ‘no contest’ plea to two of the securities sales counts and was sentenced to 360 days in jail, three years of probation, and 300 hours of community service.” (Ruel Mendoza)
